Prof. Meena Augustus , Ph.D., is co-founder, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of Shréis-Scalene Sciences LLC; Founder President & CEO of Shreis Scalene Therapeutics LLC; a minority, woman-owned enterprise, Co-Founder Exec V.P of Shreis Scalene Cardiotech LLC and Shreis Scalene Renewables LLC, all US-based innovative medical device and renewable energy companies, to improve the lives of patients with Cancer and other life limiting diseases, as well as Energy and clean water recovery solutions. With her experience as Co-founder of Avalon Pharmaceuticals Inc. a small biotech company, located in Germantown, MD, USA that raised 80M in private equity, and went public in 5 years, Meena Augustus has been able to provide the Shreis management team with valuable strategic and scientific insights. She participates actively in MD Tech Council events and her companies were show-cased in the MD Governor’s Trade Missions to India and Arab Health as US Pavilion Exhibitors.  Most recently, she has participated in discussions related to the preventive measures for COVID 19 spread, with Regional & County officials, to convey the development of a cost-effective, engineered device, ready for expeditious testing and validation in these perilous times.  With her extensive domestic and International clinical and biotech experience she helps Shreis identify strategic Scientific Initiatives relevant to oncology, regenerative medicine, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases research. She also served on the Advisory Board of the US BioIT Coalition (www.bioitcoalition.org), in Washington DC.

During her career, Dr. Augustus has served in premier oncology / medical research institutions in India, Germany, France and the U.S.   For 18 years she served at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in, Bangalore- a UICC-affiliated, 250-bedded Comprehensive Cancer Research, Treatment and Teaching Hospital, as Professor and Head, Department of Cell-biology & Pathology.  She was advisor to Triesta Sciences (driving global, big pharma research collaborations) at Healthcare Global (HCG)- a privately held Oncology enterprise in India seeing 15000 cancer patients annually. Dr. Augustus has held a visiting scientist position at Human Genome Sciences Inc., in Rockville, MD; was a consultant at the Center for Prostate Disease Research (USUHS/Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine) in Rockville, MD.; a scientist in the Lymphoma Biology Section of the Pediatric Branch  and Cancer Genetics Group at the NCI / NIH; the Genome Technology Branch of the NHGRI/NIH in Bethesda, MD;  and contracted by the NCI Director’s Nanotechnology program,  among the most prestigious of her scientific and pioneering contributions.  She has a significant publication record of original articles in peer reviewed journals, textbook chapters and invited talks in key pharmaceutical industry / cancer research forums.

As a US Citizen, residing in Maryland, USA, she works mainly out of USA and periodically, in Bangalore, India.
